The Buyer’s Perspective

9 Bridge Acquisition Advisory helps buyers assess Australian businesses through valuation, quality of earnings, financial due diligence and practical downside-risk analysis. Its purpose is to improve the quality of information, analysis and decision-making available to prospective buyers of established small and medium-sized businesses.

Business-for-sale markets frequently operate with significant information imbalance. Sellers and brokers may have considerably greater transaction experience than first-time buyers. 9 Bridge is being built to help buyers approach opportunities with stronger financial discipline, clearer downside analysis and better-prepared questions.

The name represents the bridge between acquisition interest and informed ownership. Buying a business is not a single decision—it is a sequence of interconnected financial, commercial and operational judgements.

A successful acquisition requires more than simply locating an attractive business. Buyers must connect their investment strategy with reliable financial evidence, sustainable earnings, valuation, due diligence, financing, transaction structure, negotiation, ownership transition and the realities of operating the business over the long term.

Each element affects the others. An attractive valuation can be undermined by weak cash conversion, excessive owner dependence, future capital expenditure or an unsuitable financing structure. Similarly, a financially sound business may still be the wrong acquisition if it does not align with the buyer’s capabilities, objectives or ownership plan.

9 Bridge represents this disciplined pathway—from identifying an opportunity to understanding its risks, testing its assumptions and preparing for responsible ownership. Our objective is to help buyers approach acquisitions with greater clarity, commercial discipline and confidence before committing their capital.
